In 1961 the American President Kennedy, promised within a decade a man would land on the moon.
I remember watching the moon landing on the large black and white television at school.
The 20th July 1969 the day the Eagle has landed or so they said?
After watching it on the TV we all became human space rockets flying round the school yard at top speed.
I was bursting to tell my Dad all about it when I got home, but was soon deflated by the words of Dad, “It wasn’t real you know, it was a trick by the Americans just to fool the Russians, you can tell it was staged in a film studio”. He went on to say “man will never land on the moon”.
I went to bed thinking that the space suits they wore were really made of bacon foil and the rockets were cardboard sets pushes around by over worked stage hands.
So, were half a billion of us all over the world who watched the moon landing that day really being fooled so easily?
While researching for this piece I found out that lots of well known scientist and photographers still think we were fooled by the moon landing and think it may have been faked. Why? because the technology wasn't quite up to a moon landing in time to complete the task.
Questions have been asked about how the film used to film on the moon, had survived the varying temperatures of the moon which ranged from -180f in the shade to 200+f in the sun and still isn’t available to buy in the shops.
How is it that most of us only have to let a bit of sun into our cameras lens to end up with red eyed monsters in our holiday pictures?
So when Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon, why did the second astronaut Bud Aldrin wait a full nineteen minutes to follow him?
Maybe he was waiting to see if Neil found any potholes or moon craters to fall in first!
The two men walked on the moon and yet the third astronaut had no video access so he couldn't see them moonwalk, he only had a radio link? but people on earth millions of miles away could see this epic moment. All he would of had to do was open the hatch of the space craft.
Yes! and who was president at the time of this moon landing Richard Nixon! maybe we were all fooled and my Dads been right all these years. What do you think
